When I look backwards, as a kid I was taking data driven decisions well before I understood the meaning of word "Analytics".
I used to collect all my old toys(Historical data) before birthday parties and do an analysis of what all I have (inventory) and what all is required(future products) to be in line with the latest trends of toys among my competitors (other kids)
