Dr. Ales Mihelic was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In the period from 1988 until 1995 he worked as researcher on the topics of optimization of structures and metal forming processes at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. In 1996 he finished his PhD studies. Afterwards he employed himself as researcher in Bus production factory. He was performing numerical analysis of new car/bus structures and introduced optimal design concept. In the year from 1996 until 2001 he was appointed as State Under-secretary responsible for technology development and Innovation at the Ministry of Science and Technology.
