Alex Norman is a lecturer in Studies in Religion at the University of Sydney. He also teaches at the University of Western Sydney. He completed his doctorate at the Department of Studies in Religion at the University of Sydney in 2009 with a thesis examining the intersection of travel and secular spiritual practice by contemporary Westerners. His book Spiritual Tourism was published by Continuum in 2011, and with Carole M. Cusack he co-edited the Handbook of New Religions and Cultural Production with Carole M. Cusack (Brill, 2012).
