During my fifteen-year scientific career I have worked in a wide variety of laboratories. My most extensive work focused on gene therapy of stem cell transplantation. Working as a team, we translated the most promising stem cell engineering strategies to clinical trials for patients with aggressive brain tumors and for patients with HIV/AIDS. This work was exciting and challenging, but I realized that broad applicability was not realistic. Also, I became increasingly focused on more socially conscious attitudes about healthcare.
