I am interested in emotional and metabolic processes, and how they interact in healthy and pathological states. Over the past several years, my research focused on sex differences in those processes. That is partly because my research group has uncovered relevant animal models, but also because there is a scarcity of scientists working in this important area. My most recent work involves the development of therapeutic drugs for mood and anxiety disorders, which are reported more by women than men. In preclinical tests, drug prototypes work much faster than classical antidepressants. So, I have become the founder of a bio-pharmaceutical startup to develop this discovery.
