As a breaking news reporter, I regularly pitch story ideas which I research and report using tools such as Nexis and public records. I have to react quickly in breaking news situations and report accurately and swiftly everyday. I write both on daily deadline but I also work on larger projects that can take more time. I mostly work in the realm of crime and court news but I am also flexible enough to venture out and cover other topics when needed. My job also requires me to post my own stories to our website which get more than 1 million page view per day and I am often expected to shoot short breaking news video clips when I am dispatched to crime scenes.
