Dr. Hodgkins received her DVM degree from UC Davis and served an internship at the Animal Medical Center in NYC and a residency at UC Davis immediately following her DVM. She taught veterinary parasitology at UC Davis following her residency before leaving academia to join Hills Pet Nutrition for almost a decade. Dr. Hodgkins left Hills to attend law school at the University of Kansas in 1993 and she became a member of the Kansas Bar in 1996. She subsequently worked at Heska Corporation where she developed and patented a currently marketed food for the management of feline diabetes.
