Greece's energy regulator RAE approved a new plan by the country's natural gas company DEPA to import gas from Azerbaijan through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline by 2023. The TAP pipeline will transport natural gas from the Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan through Greece and Albania to Italy and further into Western Europe. The gas imports will help boost Greece's energy security and diversify its gas supply sources away from Russia.
