I write fiction under the name Gemma Nishiyama, like the sun and love Shakespeare! I'm an academic investigating fossil fuels and the sun in fiction. The energy we use carries with it cultural implications and these can be seen in literature. We use energy to get food, but we also use energy to get entertainment, books, plays, etc. So artworks reflect this energy profile or energy regime. I investigate fiction for references to energy.
