My research training is in machine learning. Over the years, I have applied it to natural language processing, bioinformatics and steganography. In addition to those topics, I am interested in data analytics and digital security.
I am also interested in computer science education -- how to present computer science to students as the vital and creative field it is.
Having said that, I spend most of my time heading up the Informatics Department at the University at Albany, and serving as an Associate Dean in the University's College of Computing and Information.
