Hearth Place was the inspiration of Carolyn Alexander who, after being
diagnosed with Breast Cancer, wanted to create a centre that would address the social, practical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of people dealing with all types of cancer. After several years of planning, fundraising and developing the infrastructure, we were granted charitable status and opened our doors January 29, 1997. Since that time, we have continually developed new programs to best meet the needs of the members coming through the door.
In 2005 the Durham Region Homebuilders’ Association provided Hearth Place with a spectacular addition which now provides considerably more program space as
