In my role as a senior midwifery lecturer I aspire to be a strong advocate for promoting a women centred approach to midwifery that empowers women to have positive pregnancy, birth and parenting experiences. This incorporates supporting women to take advantage of the normal physiological process of childbirth by promoting a health lifestyle and avoiding inappropriate clinical interventions. This approach has led me to develop my expertise in various aspects of midwifery care including diet and exercise in pregnancy, parent education, promoting normal birth and breastfeeding.
