I had a mentor early in life. This person always took time out to spend it with me and ask what was going on in my life. I was never allowed to quit when he was around. I recall when he sacrificed his free time to tutor me in algebra. I cannot help but laugh now about the difficulties I experienced trying to understand this material and how my friend never grew tired as he explained these mathematical concepts that are routine to me today. When I look back to those days it's hard to imagine that I would be pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering. I am apparently just built that way. If something is challenging it only motivates me further to not give up.
