The document discusses the equipment and software used to create a music video. It describes:
1) Using a DSLR camera and HD camera to film scenes and capture quality footage. Features like optical zoom and ISO controls were utilized.
2) Equipment like a tripod, steady mount, and Bluetooth speaker helped stabilize shots and cue actors.
3) Improvising lighting by using phone flashes to illuminate a character's face against an urban background.
4) Editing software like Final Cut Pro to merge clips, add effects like blurring, and ensure audio and video were synchronized.
2. During our construction process we decided to use the DSLR camera and a HD quality camera We chose these 2 pieces
of equipment as the college provided us with them and its also a top quality camera for filming
The DSLR & HD Camera has many features which we capitalised on such as;
optical zoom with a 50mm Lens which we can use for our scenes to depict our charterer being drunk, similar to
Tyler creator
HD quality camera for general filming, filming scenes with automatic focusing.
ISO controls the light
The lower the ISO the darker it is, the lighter ISO the lighter it is
Example
3. Accessible
Tripod- Stopped the camera from shaking when performing tracking shots
Steady mount, allowed us to shoot scenes with the character moving,
and eliminates shaking,( tracking)
Bluetooth speaker was useful to queue in the actors and help with his
sync.
4.
Lighting
We improvised for Bakars scene, and used 2 iPhone with their flash on projected on his face, in order for the character face to
glow, making him stand out from the urban background which worked successfully.
Sound
We used a snip pit and the beginning of our video, it was extract from 2 pacs interviews remixed on with a radio extract from
YouTube. We then downloaded Rejjie EP from sound to use as the diegetic sound for the music video
Photography
DSLR
This camera was useful for our scenes as we
could alter the focus and the ISO which
meant, when shooting in a dark place such
as an arcade with many abstract colours
effecting the visual we was able to focus on
our main artist
5. Final cut pro is a software which enables the audience to become consumers and produce their own
professional videos. The software has many complex tools. Due to me experimenting in AS I already had a
basic understanding on the various technical elements. we edited our music video and we also merged the
snippet extracts on here by overlapping them and changing the volume settings on them
During the editing process there were various stages in which we faced obstacles such as glitching, and
learning how to fade and most importantly matching the audio with the video, so the lip sync is on key
Glitching- what happened was that we had to convert our video to a quick time format so that final cup pro software would be able to read and recognise
the layout of our video
Fading- natural fade first scene we found to over dramatic, from experimenting final cut pro we got a natural fade which embed well in our video
Lip-syncing because of the first problem we encountered ie glitching the lip syncing was a problem due to audio not being in time with the video
Through these errors we were able to gather a deeper level of understanding, we also discovered various other features which we implemented in our
videos such as;
Blurring- This idea was gathered from Tyler the creator video Yonkers where they used a
(Perspective control lenses, tilt shift lens)
Fish eye lens Which allows us to achieve extremely wide angles by forgoing and producing images with straight lines of perspective
Heartbeat Effect- This visual gives a flashing visual, which is useful in creating tension and emphasising the power behind lyrical content.
6.
An image editing software developed and manufactured by Adobe Systems, I also had experienced using Photoshop
during AS however, I preferred the layout on InDesign so most of my design where created on InDesign. I personally
struggled with the Photoshop especially when creating the CD packaging, however due to other members of the
groups, we was able to use YouTube tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIiFJd-uDv0) to navigate our way
through the software.
During the process of creating our print products, similar to the editing process we also encounter obstacles which slowed
down our progression, however this enabled us to also learn more about the software and develop new skills such as;
We used dimension from our print product taken from the college network Moodle. We then used to dimension to formulate
the structural layout for our cd packing ( Photo of Blogger )
We used a tutorial, which was easy to follow and explained how to use the ruler to make measuring accurate. The software
also supplied us with patterns which we used for our CD as it matched our colour scheme.
Experiment with different colour and shades, allowing us to choose a dominant colour scheme for all of our print products
I personally found it difficult to adapt to Photoshop, as I relied heavily on Indesign on other projects, I found the layout
difficult and also creating text was a problem as they became pixelated when enlarged hence the reason we used illustrator.
7. Illustrator is a graphic design software. The layout interface allows it to be user friendly. Which allowed me
to grasp the skills in a short period of time. The reason this software was useful for out topic was due to
Illustrator's vector formats can be scaled to any size or any resolution without producing the pixilation effects
that, say, enlarging a JPEG image to a poster-sized graphic creates. This allows artwork created in Illustrator
to be scaled and re-used many times over, which allowed us to use this text throughout our print products
without pixel problems effecting the professionalism of our peace.
The main skills I learned through illustrator was the isolation tool, which allowed us to
manipulated text individually. This was a useful technique as it allowed us to project
different parts of a word making it stand out from others, therefore allowing us to put
emphasis on a word.
8. We used Survey-monkey, to gather research during the hub
and asked volunteers to watch our videos and fill in a
questionnaire, it was a random sample as we asked random
bystanders, as we were in a college the main age was 17 18,
mainly males. We recorded this data on Survey Monkey
which is online questionnaire.
Planning
In terms of planning, my groups used Whats app to organize my group meeting and to also contact the artist. This was
an unexpected technology we did not plan to use , however it was successful in achieving our goal as we kept good
communication throughout the task
9. YouTube
In terms of gathering research on parts of work, YouTube was an idea media platform. YouTube allows you
to create your own page and share videos for entertainment, educational and other purposes. I used it in
various ways such as gathering research; when evaluating my case studies I use YouTube to watch an analyse
their videos, it also gives me the option to enlarge so I can see the key features, then screen munch them
into a J peg
The reason I used YouTube for part of my presentation is because of the simplicity of someone liking or not
liking your video is also confidential so there no issues in them being discovered. Its a popular website,
which is easy assessable so its not time consuming as they can download the app or use the internet.
By using other softwares to make your video, its easy to transfer them on YouTube without any hassle and
in terms of distribution by sending the links to other people its an easy and time consuming way to share
your videos.

10. A blog is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of post from
participants. Blogs, short for web-logs, are a form of online journal. You can use them for everything from
updating your personal life to advertising information.
I personally like the blogs and prefer this method rather then traditional pen to paper method as this is more
interactive and reflects more to modern day technology.
In terms of research your able to use your peers and various other bloggers post to gain inspiration for your
product
11. Photopeach: The first pitch we presented was uploaded on photo peach. We created a PowerPoint in order to develop our
information on a structured format. We then changed the format to Jpeg before uploading it onto photo peach, the reason this
was useful is because we could also add audio.
PowerPoint: I used PowerPoint for my evaluation in which I than placed onto slide share. Reason being I was able to add
arrows and images with ease. We also used power point to present our print products pitch, this was a simple presentation
software to use
Prezi: I used Prezi for my evaluation, research and planning presentation. Prezi is a great software for creating presentation it
has limitless capabilities such as adding links, videos, imagery while adding abstract colours and also allows you to design the
layout according to your own needs
One positive about prezi is that it uses your facebook login which
also gives you the option to share your work and gather
feedback
12. Individual Skills
Group Skills
During this process I gained many skills, Ive been
My group was fundamental in my development in
able to develop from AS. The main skills I learned
were from Illustrator as it was my first time using
this software, being able to isolate individual text,
has allowed me to learn a deeper layer of
understanding of ways to make text more
appealing
In terms of research, I learnt how to find key
information through blogger, and also google
images, When clicking on a image usually opens a
spread which has more detail about image which
helps me when researching the different types of
tools to use when creating a CD
not only planning in research but media knowledge
as a whole, I was lucky to have 2 enthusiastic
media student in my group. They taught me how to
use the steady mount when recording
They also taught me other media technologies
such as survey monkey and photo peach which I
discovered this year, these technologies were
useful for presentation purposes, and I will
continue to use them after my media project
