The Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (MoEF RI) holds cabinet rank as a member of the Government Ministers. The ministry is responsible for planning, promoting, coordinating, educating and overseeing the implementation of environmental and forestry programmes in the country. The Ministry also plays a pivotal role as a participant of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The principal activities undertaken by MoEF RI consist of conservation, environment protection and management and survey of flora, fauna, forests and wildlife, prevention and control of pollution in the framework of legislations.
