Ms. Afrika Abney is an alumnus of the prestigious Corcoran School of Art. She is an accomplished professional visual art workshop facilitator and is influenced by such artists as Jorge Somarriba, Marvin Sin, Lois M. Jones, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, and Sam Gilliam. She first facilitated a visual art workshop under the name of Kuumba Arts and Crafts Program (funded by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Arts and Education Grant Program) from 1995-1998 which took place at several DC Department of Parks and Recreation centers and A-T Seban Mesut School. https://kuumbaexpress.weebly.com/about.html
