My main fields of research are the stratigraphy and sedimentology of terrestrial and shallow marine sedimentary successions of Italy (Neogene-Quaternary basins of Tuscany and Southern Apennines), Africa (Mesozoic-Cenozoic rift systems of Eritrea, Etiopia, Tanzania and Madagascar; late Mesozoic-Cenozoic collisional basins in Morocco) and Canada (late Quaternary Erie and Ontario lake basins). I am particularly interested on subaerial hyperconcentrated flood-flow deposits occurring in alluvial and slope depositional systems developed in different tectonic and climatic settings.
