Started as visiting lecturer at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal-RN, Brazil in 1979 and became assistant professor in 1981.
From 1982 - 2002 acted as Textile Technology course chairman.
From 1991 – 1993 acted as the Chairman of the Postgraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering and Textile Technology.
Responsible for the creation of the 5 year Textile Engineering Course at the UFRN and was elected as the course chairman since 1998.
From 2004 acting as head of Textile Engineering Department
In 2003 awarded CText FTI / in 2005 awarded FRSA / in 2007 elected as Senior Member of AATCC /
