As a grandchild of a German MdB (MP) and the son of a trade-union Chairman it was inevitable that my life would be dominated by politics from the start. My first taste for business came during my university studies. I sold some board games to a publishing house and later became an entrepreneur founding my own publishing house. After well and truly being bitten by the business bug I opened up shops and a wholesale company for board games which I ran for about 6-7 years.
