I currently work as a writer, concentrating on educational and cultural criticism. I published ENOUGH: A PEDAGOGIC SPECULATION in March 2012. The following November, I plan to publish a related essay, FORMATIVE JUSTICE: A PLATONIC REVERIE. In May 2011, he retired from the faculty of Teachers College, Columbia University, where he had taught since 1967. In addition to writing, I am organizing the Collaboratory for Liberal Learning, a working group to advance scholarship and criticism in education, public affairs, and historical thought.
