Suparna Banerjee is awarded her postgraduate degree in Performing Arts (Dance) from the University of Pune, India. She also holds an M.A. in English and a Bachelor of Teaching from the University of Kalyani, West-Bengal. Originally trained in Bharatanatyam and Indian Classical music, her choreographic art exemplifies a juncture between theory and practice. Her research interests include dance criticism, transnationalism and Bharatanatyam dance tradition in transition, dance pedagogy and dance aesthetics.
