History Of East Harlem Located in the northeastern corner of Manhattan Home to several immigrants Battle Of Harlem Heights was on September 16, 1776 In the 1800s the population expanded Community then became suburban, farmers settled along rivers
Crime In Harlem In the 1800s there were 2 of the greatest "Gangsters" of Harlem. Everyone respected Al Capone and Lucky Luciano. Luciano was the Leader, like a chairman to the mob. Capone was his right hand man , second in charge then came the mob. They had a history of gambling, prostitution, gangs and drug dealing.
GANG AFFILIATION IMPACTS ON TEENS 1. Alcohol or drug addiction 2. Drop Out Of School 3. 4. Suicide because you can't handle the pressure or consequences 5. Can Lead to death or you doing lots of time in jail.
East Harlem's Connection to Gangs Within each few blocks there's so much segregation Certain blocks isolate their territory from other blocks There are about 6 different gangs , they're from lex, 1st and madison ave My community is involved with drugs, money, trade, violence and weapons My Bestfriend Died on December 12th,2012 due to gang affiliation

Aubrie wasn't a bad kid but the decisions he made were Affiliation is influenced by peers, communities, and childhood tendencies. Signs of Gang Affiliation are hand signals, bandanas, or same tattoos.
