I am the Michigan - Mississippi connection having been born in Detroit, Michigan, but I stake my claim as a “southern girl” after spending 17 years in the deep south. A graduate of Jackson State University, I am the author of the children’s book, “I Am Michelle Obama: The First Lady” and also the managing editor and columnist of By U Magazine, a faith based publication that runs out of the northern Mississippi - Memphis, TN area.
