Dave is a zombie, a Hunter to be exact. His species are fast moving and enjoy a sort of pack life they are usually seen hiding in the shadows and have animal like personalities, a hunter will be heard before he is seen from the odd growls they make before attacking.
Dave (or his actual name David Jepperson) is an odd mix he's not an actual purebred of Hunter he's a cross, a cross between a smoker and a hunter. But he usually keeps his past a secret to others and try's to act more like a hunter keeping his whole face hidden including the fact he has a shorter version of a smoker tongue.
