Yo Kobayashi was born in 1981. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, in 2004 and 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from Waseda University in 2008. He was a Visiting Research Associate in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, from 2005 to 2006. He was a recipient of a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Research Fellowship for Young Scientists during 2007. During 2008, he was a Research Associate in the Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Waseda University.
