About
(lo mismo en español abajo)
My life is divided between California and Oaxaca, Mexico, where, as a sociologist, I study the unequal links between these two spaces. I research the possibilities and burdens that different patterns of migration and return create for migrant communities, especially for gender relations. To say this in "sociology talk": I'm interested in the different ways in which neoliberalism has become feminized and has co-opted feminist discourse - and the forms of resistance to these processes. Specifically, my dissertation compares the differences in two patterns of migration from Oaxaca to the United States: one of migrants that have historically worked in farm labo
