Artist Alette Simmons-Jimenez was born in Madison, Wisconsin, lived in several different countries, and currently resides and works in Miami. She received a BFA from Newcomb Memorial College of Tulane University in New Orleans. She has won several fellowships and grants from the FL Dept. of State, Miami-Dade Division of Cultural Affairs, the Knight Foundation, Optica International in Spain, Mobile Museum of Art, The National Association of Women Artists in NY, Renaissance Center in Tennessee, and 1st Prize in Video at the National Biennial of the Museo de Arte Moderno in the Dominican Republic.
