Large projects waste $billions in capital every year. But that's not the worst of it. The real tragedy is, not only do over 40% of project investments fail to deliver any improvement, they often make things worse; only 5% of projects deliver the desired business value. "On-time/budget" is still failure if an organization doesn't achieve the strategic outcomes that make it competitive and deliver the investment value. The sustainable solution is not to hire a “hero” or “guru”. The reason why I don’t provide "consulting advice" any more is because after 33+ years in the strategy execution space I think it’s pointless to do a temporary fix.
