In the past when I felt fear my immediate response would be to run as far away from whatever it was that was causing me discomfort.  I have since hung up my running shoes and plated my feet firmly into what makes me afraid. I am able to stay with discomforts without tying up my running shoes and heading off into the distant skies! 
Fear is a great teacher ! At this point you might be thinking that I may have lost my mind.  That might be a  trivial question to some perhaps yes , playing with fear might equal the thought of who ever plays with fear has lost their mind.
