V.Visvanathan was born in Nellikuppam, near Pondicherry (Madras/Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India. After completing his school education, he took up work in the Administrative Department of the "Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning" in Puttaparthy, Andhra Pradesh, India.
