- Lead developer and maintainer of the Linux block IO subsystem.
Completely rewrote the core for the 2.5 kernel.
- Developed several different types of io schedulers. Implemented a
modular API for these, complete with online on-the-fly switching.
- Long term ATAPI maintainer/developer.
- Written lots of code for various types of storage (ide, sata, scsi,
etc), ranging from bug fixes to implementing new features (such as
SATA NCQ).
- Designed/implemented 'btrace', a block io tracing application and
kernel level support.
- Splice IO architecture for Linux
- Author of the fio IO testing tool
- Tons of other Linux kernel work.
