Your creative response should demonstrate understanding of the text. TASK (1000-1200 words): Diary entries at key moments of the novel, not confined to one stage in the novel, however the diary entries should be a development of an event. It must be written in Mr. Knightleys perspective or Harriets in the same language used in the book by the character; elaborate and stylistic. You must fill in the gaps of an event keeping in mind the list of the characters characteristics. The entries should not only describe the events, but also reveal how the character feels about it. Rationale (500-600 words): Your rationale for a creative response MUST be in essay form. It should encompass: A statement of the aim of your response including the reason/s for choosing a particular form/medium (e.g. script, short story, diary entries) A statement of specific features, aspects, elements of the text/s on which you have focused on one element of a character or on an exclusively plot oriented response); Textual quotes/examples which particularly stimulated your imagination e.g. scenes, dialogues, stylistic examples and how these are reflected in your response; Exposition of the specific content as well as the techniques you used to achieve particular effects. Techniques might relate to creation of tone and atmosphere in a short story, or the use of specific imagery in poetry, devices such as contrast, juxtaposition or irony etc.
