This document discusses improving collaboration between child advocacy centers, family justice centers, and domestic violence shelters. It provides background on the child advocacy and domestic violence movements. The reality is that many children witness domestic violence but the systems working with these families have traditionally operated in silos. The document describes the Family Justice Center model in San Diego which co-locates services for victims of domestic violence and child abuse to better meet families' needs. It has on-site partners like victim advocates, law enforcement, and a children's hospital program to provide child-focused services and help create a supportive environment for families impacted by violence.
