Colin has been involved in technology related start-ups since 1991. He started and successfully exited three "new media"​ start-ups in South Africa before moving to Australia in 1999. In Sydney, he founded and successfully exited another four tech startups which employed over 400 people over the past 15 years, creating revenues in the hundreds of millions and a total exit values in excess of $350m.
