PG Department of English was established in 1948 as an Under-Graduate Department. The founder head was Prof. G.S.TALIB .
Transition: PG in 2002
It earned the distinction of becoming a PG Department ( MA English) in 2002.

It comprises 16 faculty members and offers subjects ranging from contemporary British literature to Indian Writing in English , from American Literature to Contemporary Critical Approaches. It has a well equipped Language lab with Multi media ,audio –Visual systems and computers . There is a Departmental Library which stocks relevant books on Literature and Language . It has
