The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease works simultaneously with 39 member countries on their preparedness, with European neighbours to put in place sustainable control programmes, and supports and promotes the progressive control of FMD in all regions under the Global FMD Control Strategy of FAO and OIE.
I IMPROVE preparedness, II REDUCE risk, III PROMOTE foot-and-mouth disease control were established as the Three Pillars of the EuFMD strategy to counter the threat of the disease.
