Among the diverse immigrant groups in Australia, Bangladeshi-born migrants are a relatively new but fast growing community, sharing a common language (Bangla) and a common cultural heritage. My PhD study is an inquiry into the settlement experiences of Bangladeshi migrants in Queensland, Australia. It explores how and to what extent the members of Bangladeshi community practice and maintain their language, culture and religion in their adopted society, and the relation between language and culture maintenance and the ways in which they construct their well-being in the host society.
