Forty-two-year-old Gerrie studied Architecture at the then Cape Technikon (now the Cape Peninsula University of Technology) where he obtained a National Diploma, National Higher Diploma and a B.Tech. Degree in Architectural Technology.
He started his career at Gabriel Fagan Architects were he worked for almost 10 years before joining another well-known Cape Town practice, Architects Van der Merwe Miszewski.
In 2002 he began his own one-man practice in Cape Town before relocating the practice to Port Elizabeth in 2005.
He believes in the preservation of our built heritage and is currently a Working Committee member as well as a Trustee (South African Institute of Architectural Technologist
