I love language and am passionate about analyzing how language resources are deployed in different text types to communicate meaning and achieve effect. My PhD research was on the pedagogical treatment of stylistic analyses of poetic texts for use in non-native tertiary contexts, and my current research is in the investigation of ideology in political discourse. Halliday (1971), Folwer et al (1979), Simpson (1993) and Jeffries (2010) inform the descriptive framework of mأy approach and I am exploring ways of enriching this methodology.
