Simply put - You likely want new product execution to be significantly better than it has been. There have probably been multiple improvement initiatives completed over the years and the results are still not delivering what is needed for the business. The fact is these internally sourced attempts at execution improvement typically deliver mediocre results. Products are late, timelines are not predictable, reuse is dismal, barriers exist between organizational silos, blame is running rampant and you are developing too many products that fail at generating assumed revenue. The question is how long will this go on; even more importantly how long will it be allowed to continue?
