I've been a graphic designer and typographer since the early 70s, always teaching, either on the side or as a primary activity. My experience with type technology began with hand-set metal and wood type, continuing with computerized photo-setting (an unfortunate deviation in the history of type technology), extending to digital in the mid-80s.
I've been a fully tenured Professor of Visual Communications since the early 90s at what is now called the Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar, Germany.
