Grew up and went to school in North Carolina, working for Wal-Mart, the National Climatic Data Center, and volunteering for the National Weather Service. Founded WeatherMatrix, an online group of weather enthusiasts, in 1996. Moved to Pennsylvania to join AccuWeather.com in 1997. Married in 2000 and divorced in 2010.
