Dr. James Clements teaches classes in Literature and Writing at the American University of Dubai. His areas of research include post-1945 fiction, ethics in literature, religion, 20th century music, and life-writing. His book Mysticism and the Mid-Century Novel was published by Palgrave Macmillan in Fall 2011. Recent articles include 'Bottomless Surfaces: Saul Bellow’s Refreshed Phrenology in the Journal of Modern Literature, and Verbal Sludge: Mud and Malleability in the Novels of Patrick White' in the Antipodes journal.
