Demonstration 1. Get a glass of water.
Say that this represents a body of water.
Place a paper boat inside the glass with
water. Let the students observe the
paper boat (how much of it is
submerged
2. Add 2 pieces of paper clips into the
boat. Let the students observe what
happens to the boat.
 Ask the students:
*How many paper clips are needed to
sink the boat?
Start the hypothesis in thos manner/format:
“If I add X clips, then the boat will sink.” (The
students may guess different number of clips.)
3. Ask for the basis of their guess:
Why that number?
