5th grade TAG students ~ September 2014 ~
Procedure:
1. Each student made an hypothesis as to
the place in the school with the most
germs.
2. Students took a damp cotton swab to
that area and gathered a sample.
3. Students swabbed a petri dish containing
agar with their contaminated cotton
swab.
4. Students also placed a dab of hand
sanitizer on the petri dish.
The petri dish was covered and observed over a
period of two weeks to see if bacteria would
grow.
At the end of two weeks, the following photos
were taken.
WARNING: These are gross, really gross.
If you have the strength to view the bacteria that
grew in the petri dishes, proceed.
As you view the photos, see if you can tell where
the students put the dab of hand sanitizer to stop
the growth of bacteria.
See if you can find the germiest place at
Mountain Park ES.
