The document discusses the reliability of data sets. It defines reliability as ensuring consistent measurement free of bias and error. There are four main types of reliability: test-retest, parallel-form, inter-rater, and split-half. Test-retest reliability compares results over time. Parallel-form reliability correlates responses on comparable question forms. Inter-rater reliability compares ratings across different raters. Split-half reliability correlates scores on halves of a test. The document also outlines steps to calculate reliability in SPSS.

3. Definition of reliability
The reliability of a measure indicate the extent
to which it is without bias (error free) and
hence ensures consistent measurement across
time and across the various items in the
instrument.

5. Test-retest reliability
The reliability coefficient obtained with a
repetition of the same measure on a second
occasion is called test-retest reliability.
In this type, the results are compared from
time #1 to time #2 in order to determine how
well the instrument consistently gets the same
results.

6. Alternate-form reliability
When responses on two comparable sets of
measure tapping the same construct are
highly correlated, we have alternate-form
reliability.
Both forms have similar items and the same
response format, the only changes being the
sequence of the questions.

7. Inter-rater reliability
In inter-rater ,the decisions from different
raters are compared to each other to see how
consistent the raters decisions are.
Raters are the researchers who rate or judge a
variable in the research study.

8. Split-half reliability
In split-half method ,the items on the scale are
divided into two halves and the resulting half
scores are correlated.
This is done by comparing the results of one
half of a test with the results from the other
half.
