After nine years as a navy medical officer, in 1996 my family and I moved to central Maine where I started a a solo private practice of cardiology. 3 years later, I became partner at Androscoggin Cardiology Associates and Maine Research Associates, practicing non invasive cardiology, participating in national and international clinical research, and providing administrative support to regional hospitals. To reach individuals with barriers to health care, I teamed with nurse educators at St Mary's Hospital, and created a medical risk assessment program known as Take Charge.
