Motonori Shindo started his professional career at Tokyo Electric Power Company in 1988. After the graduate study at the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in 1992-1995, he worked at Ascend Communications, CoSine Communications, and Proxim. In 2004, he launched a company, "Fivefront," with a few ex-Ascend colleagues and was appointed CTO. In 2011, he joined Nicira (later acquired by VMware) and devoted himself to network virtualization technology. Then, he moved to Viptela (later acquired by Cisco) in 2016 and led the SD-WAN market in Japan. In 2018, he re-joined VMware (later acquired by Broadcom) as a member of the CTO Office in APJ.
