Sandra Lin is the HR manager of a small coffee chain in Northern California. She has found it difficult to recruit and retain college graduates for barista positions. Graduates are often unreliable, frequently missing interviews or not taking the job seriously. They also do not see coffee making as a potential career path and are more interested in large chains. Sandra wants to find better ways to promote barista work and the career opportunities in the coffee industry to college students and graduates.
"Being a More Visible Support for LGBTQ* Communities What Some Canadian Libraries are Doing to Promote LGBTQ* Services, Inclusivity, and Community Engagement" is Part 2 of "Nowhere to Turn, Nowhere to Go," representing a greatly expanded update from the previous version.
Part 1 is a separate 際際滷Share file entitled "Library Service and Collection Policies and Strategies for Supporting LGBTQ* Communities."
The core conviction is the same as for Part 1: Librarians are catalysts for social change and personal transformation.
Part 2 shows in vibrant visual images what some Canadian libraries -- post-secondary and public -- are doing to support and promote LGBTQ* services.
It also challenges viewers who are library service providers -- and at the same time it informs viewers who are library service users -- to address the question of: If there arent any now, how could you create LGBTQ* inclusive programs and services at your library?
Suggestions for promotion and advocacy to support LGBTQ* communities are addressed, but they are just suggestions. Visuals and narratives in this presentation show what 15 Canadian libraries in these two sectors are doing to support LGTBQ* populations, from specialized collections and reading lists to Pride parade engagement to the creation of public library GSAs to myriad events, workshops, guest speakers, special celebrations, collaborations and partnerships, and library volunteer staff groups.
The document describes a new Olympic event called "Hot Ice" where athletes use hair dryers to melt ice cubes of varying weights. The event involves up to 20 athletes simultaneously melting their ice cubes. The first athlete to completely melt their ice cube into water wins. The event features three classes based on the weight of the ice cube. Success requires agility, patience, and strategic analysis to withstand wetness and pressure. Hot Ice has become a popular new Olympic sport with professional training starting at age 14.
This document lists various topics including games, cities, music, cars, steps for an essay, thoughts, how to make cake, a math problem, elements, human stages, the volcanic process, and how to make pepperoni pizza. It does not provide any details about the content under each heading.
This document is a presentation on Ruby on Rails (RoR). It introduces RoR as a popular web application framework written in Ruby. Some key principles of RoR include don't repeat yourself (DRY), convention over configuration (COC), and model-view-controller (MVC). The presentation provides a brief history of RoR and recommends additional resources like documentation, guides, courses, and books to learn more about RoR and Ruby. It suggests literature for both English and Russian readers to learn testing and specifications.
This document discusses using a multi-scale approach to design nano hinges through F旦rster resonance energy transfer insights to build the world from the bottom up. It explores using this approach to gain insights into disease pathways, design new drugs and pharmaceutical molecules, and create in silico designed nano structures.

Framing and Reframing - A Bread's Day Lifedcgurdas
油
This document discusses the daily routine of a loaf of bread, describing what happens at different times of the day including breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner, and a late night snack. It emphasizes living up to different values throughout the day.
This document appears to be a student's notes from a class period. It contains brief notes on different topics like "PINK ROSE" and mentions things that occurred "Before" and "After" various events, but does not provide enough context to fully understand the content or generate a meaningful summary in 3 sentences or less.
The document describes different driving experiences associated with various brands of vehicles, including comfort and spaciousness for the Jeep Cherokee, flashiness and speed for the Mercedes-Benz SLK, family-friendliness for the Dodge Grand Caravan, individualism and cool factor for the Mini Cooper, mass appeal and frequent updates for the Honda Civic, and luxury and formality for traveling by limousine.
Computer is very helpful in daily life and it is important to learn about its uses. Computers can help communicate, be used for banking, make robots, work in space, and print documents. Computers save time and create many possibilities, leading to great utilities and conveniences. They are essential in modern life and have endless potential uses.
CECAM-IRL is an Irish node of an international consortium that uses particle-based computer simulation to study diverse fields like spintronics, advanced materials, and nanobiology. It brings together Irish researchers in this area and connects them to European partners. Through workshops and tutorials, it aims to increase the impact of Irish simulation research, enhance training, and provide guidance to experimentalists. The goals within specific institutions include mesoscale astrophysics simulations at DIAS, large-scale computing at ICHEC, and applications in areas like electron transport, materials development, and thin films at QUB, TCD, Tyndall-UCC, and UCD.
This is a short lecture that I gave to school childrenin June 2012, at University College Dublin, Ireland about the amazing "Physics of Drug Discovery." It can be an interesting template to introduce students in the field of statistical physics.
This work is dedicated to those who lost their way because they had nowhere to turn, nowhere to go, and to the librarians and the teachers who give them hope.
The core conviction in this presentation is that librarians are catalysts for social change and personal transformation. But first come professional due diligence and careful study to learn about the LGBTQ* communities, their diverse histories, local and global, and their wide-ranging library information needs. The context is then established for developing and enhancing strategies, policies, procedures, and action plans that will support local LGBTQ* communities.
I hope this presentation affords a pathway to change and support. The focus is principally on Alberta and Canada because this context is what I know best.
But there are many commonalities across countries and cultures in what LGBTQ* communities experience and in how librarians and libraries can position themselves as service providers, supporters, and advocates to create an ethno-cultural climate of respect and resilience in society, grounded in an ethos of human rights and social justice.
This version has been greatly expanded from my previous 77 slides to incorporate recent research and professional events.
It is divided into two separate 際際滷Share files:
1. Library Service and Collection Policies and Strategies for Supporting LGBTQ* Communities
2. Being a More Visible Support for LGBTQ* Communities What Some Canadian Libraries are Doing to Promote LGBTQ* Services, Inclusivity, and Community Engagement
Part 1 addresses the status of LGBTQ* rights around the world; the LGBTQ* rainbow umbrella; library service collection policies and strategies for supporting LGBTQ* communities; a policy framework; access challenges in meeting LGBTQ* library information needs; and professional resources to support LGBTQ* communities and library users.
The analysis of LGBTQ* access challenges is at the heart of issues that are central to effective library services for LGBTQ* populations: library staff values and service attitudes; materials access; subject access; Internet access and filtering; reference and research services; and library information needs research.
