I am a fifty-something-something Nuyorican who was born in New York City and lived in Da' Bronx until the age of 13 when I experienced the culture shock of moving to middle class suburbia (aka: West Islip, New York) and then REALLY experienced culture shock when I went to Manhattan, Kansas at age 18 to attend college. What can I say? I must like the smell of cow turds, because here I am 35 years later...still living in the heartland. I do love it out here and am an eccentric little speck of blue in a big ole' sea of conservative red.
